Just a few personal words on this Sunday morning.

We have no idea what the future holds and if we did, it would scare the crap out of us.

Sure, there’s lots of good and exciting things that will most likely come your way.

It will be balanced by challenges, some that you wonder if you can survive.

Choices will come your way.

Decisions will be made by others too that affect your life.

All in all, changes are to be expected, so don’t be surprised.

Try not to fear the unknown either.

Listen to your gut.

Pray for wisdom.

As one of the pastors at our church said a few years ago,

“Don’t pray for God to open doors, pray instead that he shuts doors that you shouldn’t walk through.”

The difference is action.  Go out there and look for the unknown.  Find doors to open.  Pray that God will lock the ones that you should not walk through.

You can apply this advice to nearly anything in your life.

I have been applying this to my life recently in such a way that Monday, I will be starting a new career.  The conscious decision to begin the process started at the end of October and early November last year.

Each opportunity I explored came with a prayer that God would shut the door if it wasn’t the direction I should take.

Last week on Tuesday I was suddenly flooded with offers. Five of them in less than 24 hours.  I may write about that whole process one day, because there was a process that led to those offers.

But for now, I hope that you will start taking steps instead of waiting for your life to change.

And follow these words of wisdom from my pastor, “Don’t pray for God to open doors, pray instead that he shuts doors that you shouldn’t walk through.”
