Friday morning as I was preparing to go to work, my wife asked me if I heard about the shootings in Aurora, Colorado.

No, I had not.  I was focused on my day ahead and had not turned on any news sources yet.

As my day unfolded on Friday I heard about the tragic killings of at least a dozen innocent theater goers and the stories continued to dominate all weekend long.

Three weeks ago our town was hit with hurricane force winds and many of my friends lost power for several days and some had damage to their homes due to the falling trees.

These are the headlines.

There are people behind these stories.

There are disruptions that occur in all of our lives that can turn our lives around on a dime.

But like a coin has two sides, every disruption has another side.  If we look close enough we see the blessings.

The tragedies that could have been worse.

The lives that were spared.

Look for both sides.
