This week I have been talking a lot about family relationships.

Today is the birthday of a friend of mine, Ron Latham who never expected to live to see his 70th birthday.  Both of his parents never made it to 70 but today he has.

4 1/2 years ago I wrote about the first time we met and here’s what I said:

In 1982, while working on the air as a radio personality at WMEE, we had this basketball team that consisted of the radio station staff and a few hired guns. Last week my friend Ron was cleaning out boxes and came across the following picture.

That was me, number 20, age 22. Sitting next to me is Ron, age 40. He was one of the hired guns. Until last week, neither one of us realized that we had met 25 years ago and played basketball together at the Coliseum. It was about 5 or 6 years ago that I met Ron for the first time (so I thought), and we worked together for about 3 years. As a matter of fact, here’s a picture of us at another basketball event about 3 years ago.
