Welcome to the one and only Friday the 13th of 2014.

Are you superstitious?  Do you believe in luck?

What about slumps?

The Indiana Pacers had one of their best starts in recent history this past season until they hit a slump that dragged them down the 2nd half of the season.

Was it luck that they had and lost?

Are some people just luckier than others?

Or is there more to this success equation than luck, slumps and superstitions?

It’s all in your head is only a partial truth.

It’s also in your heart.

And what determines the outcome is the actions you take.

The actions can either be successful habits or failure-prone ruts.

Please don’t let any excuse keep you from doing, accomplishing, trying, and starting again.

This year I have had goals each month to measure my progress.

Each month was either the same or bigger than the previous month.

January, February and March I beat my goal each month.

Then April came and I missed it.  Some of the things I was working on didn’t pan out.  Some of the businesses I was talking to decided they were not ready, and some of them I turned down.

(I only propose advertising and marketing solutions that I believe will meet our agreed upon objectives.  If a business is unwilling or unable to follow my recommendations, I will tell them no, not now.)

So as I saw that April was going be break my streak of meeting my goals, I regrouped.  And the result was May was my best month yet.  I more than doubled my goal for the month.

I’ve already beat my June and July goals and am nearly at my August goal.

Luck? Slumps? Superstitions?  No, work hard and smart wins every time.
