We like to skip the hard stuff in life.

This applies to nearly aspect of our lives including:

  • Health
  • Money
  • Family
  • Political Issues
  • Career
  • Relationships
  • Business

What prompted me to write this was a Facebook conversation and an in-person conversation about violence and specifically school shootings.  Which lead to a talk about gang violence and mental health funding.

We didn’t solve any of these issues, but we kept them alive.  And that is the first step.

The next step is to decide what actions to do and then keep moving.

This simple exercise can be done with any of the areas I mentioned above.

Take money for example.  It was nearly two years ago that my wife and I started a conversation that led to us taking actions and saving a bunch of money initially and then starting habits that add up over time in savings.  We have also discovered that we are pretty much in sync with how much we want to pay for things.

Your business and your career.  How’s it doing?  Are you too caught up in the daily, weekly and monthly routines that you don’t take the time to see what can be improved or what needs to change?

I know this is hard.  And just talking about the hard stuff isn’t the answer.  But it is more of an answer than ignoring the issues.

Perhaps you will find as my wife and I have discovered that while the initial conversations were not fun, the actions and after affects have been rewarding.

What conversations do you need to start?
