Our family is in the middle of Birthday Season.

That’s what I used to call the time between August 15th and April 12th.

Actually our family also has birthdays between April and August too, and while those are no less significant, I’m used to them coming one after another during those other months.

My oldest daughter turned 30 this year, my son will be 29 this month and my other daughter will be 28 in April.

So when is middle age?

If we could truly predict the 1/2 way point of our lives we would know.

My goal is to outlive my parents and grandparents.  None of them reached 70.

I don’t recall any significant midlife struggles when I hit any particular age, but when I turned 50, it was about a month after my son turned 25.  Reflecting on how my life had had changed over the previous 25 years, I was excited to see what my next 25 years will be like!

Huffington Post recently featured an article on middle age that has a few tidbits of wisdom.

I know that I am really enjoying this stage of life right now and as I look at the lives my kids and their families are creating, I am proud.  They are going through some of the same struggles we did at that age and enjoying victories too.

For example my daughter Tiffany shared this video on Facebook.

Each and every one of my kids and their spouses are excellent Moms, Dads, Uncles & Aunts.  My advice to them and you too is the longer you live, the older you are.  The rest is up to you.
