One of my co-workers turned 30 this week.

She was depressed because she is now old.

Her words, not mine.

To put this in perspective, the week before we celebrated my oldest daughters 30th birthday.

What does that make me?

I think it’s funny.

I get to look back and watch my kids experience what I did a lifetime ago.

See, all are now married and most are having their own kids.

So if you ever hear me say “That was a lifetime ago”, it means I did that around 25 years ago.

3 years ago my wife had a surprise birthday party for me and invited folks I had known since I was 20 and some I only knew a few years.

I was actually excited about turning 50, because the month before my son turned 25.

As I reflected all the “stuff” that occurred in my life between the ages of 25 and 50, I was excited about what the next 25 years would entail.

So,  if you’re having a meltdown because you turned 25, 30, 35, or 40…

Grow up.

Embrace the future.

Learn your lessons from the past.

And continue the adventure we call life.
