Foursquare with a Purpose
I remember when I first started using Foursquare and was checking in at places that I was visiting.
I remember the thrill of being the mayor of a business or event.
Being the Mayor of my church was weird though.
I have started being more selective with my Foursquare check-ins and here’s why:
- Being a Mayor isn’t all that exciting anymore.
- I have competitors that are friends on Foursquare. Actually it’s the other way around. They were friends first. But either way, they don’t need to know what clients and potential clients I am visiting.
- The flip side is that I will continue to monitor Foursquare check-ins when I am interested in seeing what my friends are up to and perhaps meet up for a bite or conversation.
I have always been protective of giving away too much information via Location Based Social Media Services. I am selective as to who I friend on Foursquare and I refuse to use the check-in feature on Facebook.
What about you?
