Over the years I have advised businesses and organizations to Consider social media as a communication tool.

But many have held off, waiting to form an internal handbook, rules and guidelines.

Others have set up a Facebook page, Twitter account and a LinkedIn profile page and wondered why nothing has happened.

I am going to recommend a simple step that you can do so that your organization is active in the social media world without having to be active in the social media world.

I know, it sounds like double talk, but hang on a second.

Your organizations primary online presence should be your website.

It should be loaded with all the information that people are looking for when they are looking for answers to questions about your organization.

But you also need to enable your website visitor to share your webpages on their social media channels.

This is as simple as including “Social Share” Buttons on your website.

They come in many different forms.

An example that I use is found at the end of each article I publish on my website.  You’ll see a “Share and Enjoy” collection of buttons that I have set up.

What this does is enable folks who visit your site, whether it’s their 1st visit, or 1000th visit to spread the word about you.

One of the things I’ve been telling organizations for years is that people are already talking about you or your business even if you are not involved in the conversation.

This is an easy way to help them share what they like about you to their social media connections!

By the way, If you are not able to add social share buttons to your website, and your “geek” isn’t able to help, you need a different website platform, which is where my company comes in.  Contact me.
