We are nearly 1/2 way through the month that is 1/2 way thru the year and it’s time.

Time to do some pruning.

If you are not where you want to be, take a look at where you are going.

Start by looking at how you are spending stuff.

Like time and money.

Nah, skip the money for now.

Focus on the great equalizer that everyone, rich, poor and in-between have an equal amount of.

Time.

168 hours every week for me, 168 hours for you too.

Now some things are important, like sleep, eating, personal grooming and work.

But think about all the other things that take up time.

Are they important, or “All The Other Crap”?

If you really want to get gutsy, keep an hour by hour diary and be honest with how you are spending your work day and your free time.

How much work time are you spending doing non-work things?

Are the next 6 and 1/2 months going to be a repeat of the previous 5 1/2 months?

Or are you going to separate the important from “All The Other Crap”?

Only you have your answers.

Here’s more on the subject that I read yesterday: http://blogs.hbr.org/cs/2012/05/the_unimportance_of_practicall.html
