A couple of years ago I was with a group of friends in Indianapolis at a Friend-Up.

This is a modern day gathering of people you can trust to be friends in real life, not just the sometimes make believe world of social media.

(More on that in the future).

Anyway, while talking about how we can support each other, the subject of writing a book was mentioned by a few of the friends.  Not a collaborative effort, but individual books on various subjects.

The idea was everyone has a book inside of them and many of us have done enough writing that we could easily write a book or 2 or twenty.

Two years later, none of us have completed that task.

Yet another friend, here in Fort Wayne has recently set out to write a book and has completed it.  He was not an author before this book, but he had a passion and purpose in mind and he sought out the tools and people and funding to get it done in less than a year.

Seth Godin talks sometimes about Shipping It. The concept is we all have ideas, but there are a number of reasons we don’t follow thru and present those ideas in whatever form is appropriate.

Perfection can be your enemy.  Fear of failure is another reason we don’t ship.

Maybe our priorities have changed, and that idea that was so important at one time is no longer a passion.

Or Maybe, Just Maybe, You Need A Kick In The Pants.

Only you know for sure what the passion or project is that you’ve placed on your back burner.

And only you know the whys.

I want to encourage you to start listening to that nagging voice, the one you try and muffle.  Do the work, write the book, start that business, research the steps to begin the project,

Stop Stalling,

Prepare to Ship.

Then do it and let us know so we can support you and your venture.
